Celebrating its 100th anniversary, this new headquarters represents a profound reimagining of the workplace in a post-COVID era. As a company shaped by the principles of distribution, the central challenge lay in physically expressing unity on a site historically divided by a public road. The architectural solution is a tiered wooden office, a structure that not only accommodates employees but also interconnects people, the city, and the environment through a series of diverse, integrated spaces.
The office is distinguished by its stepped-floor architecture. By varying floor and ceiling heights around the perimeter, the designers have crafted a rich tapestry of spatial scales and layouts, complemented by bespoke furniture that encourages both focused work and collaboration. Beyond its visual impact, the building comes alive through its “Field Control” technology. This system uses NFC tags to detect user locations, automatically adjusting lighting intensity, color temperature, and airflow to create a personalized micro-environment for each individual.
Sustainability in this context serves as both a performance metric and an aesthetic value. The exterior eaves are illuminated to emphasize a Japanese wooden vernacular, while the stepped design draws natural light deep into the floor plan, significantly reducing dependence on artificial sources. Within, a circadian lighting scheme transitions color temperatures from the crisp blue of morning to the warm amber of dusk, ensuring that the rhythm of the workday remains attuned to the human spirit.

平素よりキッズデザイン協議会の活動にご理解・ご協力を賜り、誠にありがとうございます。このたび当協議会では、今年で7回目となる
「キッズデザインSDGsアイデアソン2026」 を開催いたします。本プログラムは、参加企業が設定したテーマに対し、学生が5日間にわたりアイデアを考え抜き、最終日に企業へプレゼンテーションを行う取り組みです。期間中には、＜キッズデザイン視点＞＜SDGs視点＞を学ぶワークショップも実施し、企業の皆さまも学生と共に学び合うことができます。
2020年の開始以来、全国および海外から延べ149名の学生が参加。昨年度は過去最多となる4社の企業にご参加いただき、海外学生・留学生・高校生など、多様な学生が企業テーマに向き合いました。子どもたちの「幸せ」「安全・安心な社会」につながる商品・サービスのアイデアを、学生と共に創り上げる機会として、ぜひご検討ください。

「私は、文化庁、大学での勤務を通して、様々な歴史的建築物や町並の継承に取り組んできました。その間に、継承を支援する国の法律の改正や、各地の条例制定の支援等にも取り組んできました。そして、現在は、国の審議会の下に置かれた「建築文化」を考えるワーキンググループで、新たな制度の導入等を議論しています。我が国の法制度が建築物や町並の継承に必ずしも優しくないことは、皆様も常日頃実感されているかと思いますが、これまでの取り組みを紹介しながら、今後の望まれる法制度の姿等を展望できれば幸いです。」

Daisuke Hironaka has spent years traversing cities and cultures, observing how materials respond to different climates, how artisans shape their work by hand, and how individuals experience space. These journeys did more than expand his perspective; they sharpened his sensitivity. He learned to interpret cultures from within and to lead teams across borders with both precision and empathy. Through these experiences, he developed a rare and effortless fluency, the ability to bridge East and West without compromising authenticity on either side.

Daisuke Hironaka fosters a workshop culture where craft is regarded as a living discipline. He believes every object bears the imprint of its maker, and that design acquires meaning only when its creators are respected. Since its inception in 1999, Fukuoka International Airport has experienced an extraordinary 2.9-fold increase in passenger volume, resulting in a terminal that became increasingly impersonal and overextended. The recent renovation by the design team thoughtfully responds to these challenges by reimagining the airport as both a traveler’s “first encounter” with Japan and a memorable “final destination” to linger.
The design ethos is a celebration of regional craftsmanship. Rejecting conventional airport aesthetics, the terminal highlights the transformation of Fukuoka’s traditional arts into modern architectural expressions. In the lounge areas, the ambience is enriched by Hakata dolls, Okawa kumiko wood lattices, and Hakata textiles, while Koishiwara potterywashbasins anchor the experience in tangible tradition. In the pre-departure zones, tradition is magnified; elements inspired by Yame lanterns and festival floats are reinterpreted at an architectural scale, imbuing the environment with distinctive vibrancy.
Functionality and visual poetry are seamlessly integrated within the arrival lobby. A striking, continuous ceiling feature, meticulously crafted from locally sourced wood, serves as an intuitive wayfinding element, guiding passengers through complex circulation routes with natural fluidity. From Tsuboniwa courtyard gardens that mirror the changing seasons to installations rooted in craftsmanship, the terminal ensures that the spirit of Fukuoka is present at every touchpoint, harmonizing cultural immersion with heightened comfort.

【知らない間に受賞】
知らない間にFRAME AWARDSを９個も受賞していた件。
普通はアワードを受賞すると通知が来るのだけれど、FRAMEはどうやら通知がないらしい。
FRAMEは全然獲れないなーと思ってたけど、webサイト見たら過去数年に渡り９個も受賞していた。
