大サイン展にPAOS中西元男さんご来場。CIブームの火付け役だったデザイン界の重鎮。
1976年にマツダ自動車でSDA大賞を受賞され、その後もケンウッド（1984）、NTT（1985）、ベネッセ（2001）など何度も大賞をとられている。サインデザインの歴史の中でも、中西さんが提唱されたデザインによる経営戦略の思想と実践は、現在に至るまで、大変な成果だと評価されている。
田中一光さんや伊東豊雄さん、五十嵐威暢さんとの思い出話も楽しかった。
一通り展示を見ていただいた後、デザイン振興会の深野理事長ともご面談。銀行員だったという理事長のお父様がお持ちだったという中西さんのサイン本を見せていただいた。本当に各方面に影響を与えた方だと改めて認識させていただいた。
展示場を離れてしばらくして、中西さん（取締役の猪熊さん）から以下のメールをいただいた。とても素晴らしいご感想いただき、またまた感動した。

サインデザイン賞は私共もいくつか頂戴しており
大変光栄で誇らしい実績として大切にして参りました。
その賞の60年の歴史を振り返るという壮大な展示を拝見しながら、
社会の環境デザインにおけるサインの役割や影響力が
圧倒的に大きくなってきていることに深く感じ入りました。
中西が親しくさせていただいてきた方々の素晴らしいご活躍ぶりを
多数拝見できたことも大きな喜びでした。
なお、デザイン振興会の深野理事長にお目に掛かる機会も
お作りくださり、誠にありがとうございました。
中西の著書のサインは、過去の記録を遡ってみましたところ
秋田での講演の際のものと分かり、その交流会では
経産省から県庁に出向されていた深野様と
ご挨拶もさせていただいておりました。
28年という時を経て本日あのような形で再会できましたのも、
お取り計らいをいただいたお陰でございました。
素晴らしい一日となりました。
お心尽くしのご対応に改めまして深く御礼申し上げます。

大阪・関西万博の記憶　各地へレガシーをつなぐ
「Mirai Arcade」リニューアル展示

2025年大阪・関西万博が昨年10月に閉幕して半年余りが過ぎました。現在、万博レガシー事業として、全国各地で施設や展示の移設が進められています。「未来の都市」パビリオン（株式会社 日立製作所・KDDI株式会社共同展示）の「Mirai Arcade」もその一環として、東京の科学技術館と大阪科学技術館2か所の日立ブースに、リニューアルして移設。GKテックが引き続き実装を手がけました。
万博展示での様々な社会課題をゲーム形式で解決する内容はそのままに、3人で競う形態から1人ずつ体験できる構成に変更。学習成果がより反映される得点配分を新たに採用し、結果に応じて4段階の称号が獲得できます。ゲームを振り返る復習機能も追加しました。科学技術館の常設展示にふさわしい、楽しみながら繰り返し学べる展示へと生まれ変わりました。

he Sky Design Awards trophy was conceived and designed by founder Peggy. Inspired by the form of a bridge, the trophy symbolizes design’s power to connect people, ideas, cultures, and society. The red sphere at its pinnacle represents the sun, a symbol of inspiration, hope, and the forward-looking spirit that drives creativity.
From Peggy’s original sketches to the final form, the trophy is crafted in wood, reflecting a return to the essence of design and craftsmanship. This year of 2026, Sky Design Awards’s trophy brought to life by Japanese craftsman Satofumi Momose, owner of Hikimonojo 639 in Shizuoka, Japan. Through the traditional art of hikimono (Japanese woodturning), Momose-san transformed the concept into a sculptural object that embodies human connection, creative vision, and enduring craftsmanship.

The Hypericum by the main gate is blooming beautifully now, reaching about one-third of its full bloom.
At noon on a clear day, when the sun shines directly across the surface, the interplay of light and shadow on the shallow-jointed Kunishiro bricks creates a moment of remarkable beauty. Though it lasts only a few fleeting seconds, it is enough to leave a lasting impression.
The scene is equally beautiful after dark.
Let children learn about beautiful Japan.

Today, I am attending the WIW – World Interiors Week 2026 in Japan Design Symposium.
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Designing Relationship.”
It features inspiring keynote presentations showcasing the work of architects from Taiwan, Vietnam, and Japan. I am learning a great deal from these excellent lectures.
This symposium is a collaborative initiative organized by IFI – International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers, Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP), and Japan Interior Designers’ Association (JID).
In fact, the philosophy behind SSOJ is very similar.
However, SSOJ’s scope extends beyond interior design. It is an organization dedicated to fostering collaboration and building networks across the entire spatial design industry—including architecture, landscape design, lighting design, furniture design, and art—while supporting the activities of Japanese spatial designers and promoting their presence both domestically and internationally.

実はSSOJも同様の思想なのです。
ただし、インテリアだけでなく建築、ランドスケープ、照明、家具、アート等を含めた空間デザイン業界の連携、ネットワーク構築と日本の空間デザイナーの活動支援を目的とした機構です。

DESIGN WEEKEND FUKUOKAが始まりましたね。昨晩のオープニングレセプション @tagsta01 では、若いデザイナーの皆さんに混じり、かつてのデザインニング展の初回から参加していた旧友デザイナー仲間たちの顔もちらほらと。久しぶりの昔話と近況報告に花を咲かせ、福岡の街にデザインの熱が久しぶりに灯ったような楽しい楽しい夜でした。
先日リズムデザインの井出さんからも案内が出ていましたが、久しぶりのこの機会。せっかくだからこちらもやろう！と、本日5/30(土)13:00~17:00と明日5/31(日)13:00~17:00、TGDA、急遽OPEN STUDIOとして事務所を開放いたします。

ワンビル会場に展示されていますcassinai xc.「LATO」の試作機＆プロジェクト特注verや、姪浜ステップ会場に置かれている「mon stool」のmiddle、Hign verは実物がご覧になれます。また2002年、24年前に事務所を開設した当時の作品やモックアップ、プロジェクトの試作品、初めてミラノで発表した作品、東京での発表のみで福岡ではなかなかお見せする機会のなかった実験的な作品などが事務所には数多く所狭しと置かれています。とても乱雑ですが。。。また中にはあまり現物を見る機会の少ない巨匠の名作もあったり（来てびっくり）。
興味を持ってくださる方にはできるだけ、僕時自身で当時の話も交えながらご説明させていただこうと思っています。
